10 Ways You Can Use Blogs RIGHT NOW

Now that you have got a basic understanding of the ins and outs of blogs, and some options available, you're probably wondering: How does this help my business? How does it help me to stand out?

1. Team Communication. Companies use blogs internally to communicate project status to stakeholders and managers. It beats clogging everybody's email with mass broadcasts. It allows these missives to be archived, indexed and easily searched.

2. Enrich Your Clients. You can easily link to articles and resources relevant to your readers and their needs. You can more easily attract experts to provide value-added content to your audience.

3. Get to Know Your Customer. Nobody buys from someone they don't know. Blogging allows you to demonstrate your expertise and point-of-view quickly and easily. In addition, blogs allow the customers to receive your updates in the format they choose.

4. Collaborate. You can create your own marketing buzz to drive attention and buyers to your products and services. Some companies use internal blogs to report on projects or to track work groups distributed around the world.

5. Research and Development. Weblogs are the perfect forum to test out new ideas and receive instant feedback. You can allow others to see how you develop your products and services, and at the same time, they can tell you how best to serve them.

6. Go Global. Blogs, like other online media, allow you to take your business and ideas to a global market. Translation services are getting better every day, allowing more people to read online content in different languages. I've helped bloggers from New York to New Zealand, from Indiana to India.

7. Hidden Entrance to the Press. Journalists are busier than ever and blogs provide a virtual directory of pundits on any topic. You and your company can be the content expert they're looking for. Furthermore, if your company is talked about in the blogosphere it could end up using that exposure as a back door to the press.

8. Get Published. Publishers are turning to blogs to find new writing talent. Blogs can give a publisher a taste of your writing style as well as a sample of your depth of knowledge. Content specific blogs show a a commitment to a certain topic or subject matter.

9. Write your book. Let your readers help you write your latest book or article. Post chapters or ideas, then let readers help you in researching, testing and suggesting ideas. Or, use a blog after your book is published to update the material or to answer questions from readers.

10. Success Stories. Invite clients to blog about their successes with your products and services - it's like a living testimonial that never ends. As clients share their experiences, your prospects can see first-hand how you can help them, too.

7 Tips on How to Blog to Build a Profitable Online Business

Blogging will change the way you do business, whether your business is online or off. Once you set up your blog and become part on the conversation in the blogosphere, nothing will ever be the same. You will want to make sure you get off to a good start, so that your valuable time will make a difference in your business.

First, decide what kind of blogging you will be doing. Will you be promoting your business, expressing your opinions, or providing information for people who are interested in a specific topic? Once you know the purpose of your blog it will be easier to plan what to do next. Here are some ideas for setting up your blog so that you can gain visibility and credibility online, and build your business on the internet.

  • 1. Choose either Typepad or hosted WordPress as your blogging platform. This way you will own your blog and have control over its content and existence. The free blogging services provide no customer service and can delete your blog from their servers at any time. You do not want to lose your hard work and effort, so choose a hosted blogging platform to begin with.
  • 2. Define your target market and ideal client. Who are you trying to reach with your blog? What do these people want to learn from you? Make some notes and then just start blogging. Over time you will refine what you are writing about and who you want to reach. As you do this your blog become more relevant to the people you are reaching out to.
  • 3. Make a list of topics you will be writing about. These topics will become your categories on your blog. Choose your categories carefully, using your keyword phrases to guide you. This will help you to be found by the search engines for your keywords, and will also help people who come to your blog and want to find information on a particular topic.
  • 4. Post to your blog regularly. During the first month or so, post every day to your blog, even if you are only writing a few paragraphs. This will help to increase your blog's popularity as you begin to gain visibility online. You want to build up a strong foundation of valuable content for your readers.
  • 5. Become active in social networks to find new readers and get more ideas. Joining Facebook will allow you to syndicate your content through something called an RSS feed. RSS stands for really simple syndication.
  • 6. Read and comment on other blogs regularly. You can search for blogs on your topic at Technorati, the largest blog directory in the world. Becoming part of the conversation with other bloggers will help you to increase your standing in the blogosphere.
  • 7. Have fun with your blog! If you do not enjoy the blogging process there is no point in doing it. Once you get started you will find that your online business will flourish and you will be able to create exactly what you want online.

Consider these 7 tips as you begin to build your business through blogging. You will find that blogging is the fastest and easiest way to reach people who are interested in what you have to share with them.

Six Simple Steps to Finding the Best Blog Software Online

When trying to choose the best blog software, there are numerous choices. Finding the right product for you can be exhausting and overwhelming.

Number 1: Budget

You first need to look at your budget. You may not be able to afford any software at all. If that's the case then Wordpress and Blogger may be your first choice. However, if you have a small amount of money to invest in a top blogging application then I recommend a software called Firepow which I'll discuss more in detail at the end of the article.

Number 2: Goal

Next you need to decide what your goal is in using a software application. Is it to save you time? Is it to make more money? Is it to automate a lot of the tedious tasks.

Number 3: Features

Wordpress and Blogger are more basic software applications where you can actually host your blogs for free on their servers. However, you do have limited control and flexibility in creating and maintaining your blogs with them. It's always recommended that you create blogs on your own domain.

Some of the more advanced programs can install blogs quickly, install and activate wordpress plugins, and help you manage your blogs and promote them quickly.

Number 4: Extras

Some applications won't work without additional components that you have to buy elsewhere. It's always important to try and find a software that includes as many blogging tools as possible to save both your time and money.

Number 5: Simplicity

It's also important that the program is easy to use and set up and that you can get up and running with it as soon as possible -- there is no long and intense learning curve.

Number 6: Ease of Installation

The best blog software will also be easy to install and easy and quick to install blogs with.

Earlier in this article I mentioned an innovative software application known as Firepow. Firepow is, in fact, a number of blogging tools all in one. It's highly recommended if you are after a program that is easy to use, quick to install blogs, helps you add fresh content to your blog and assists you with weblog promotion and web 2.0 marketing.

How to Create Blogs

In blog creation, the goal is to provide another avenue of marketing for your business. However, do you really know what it takes to make the ideal blog? Do you know what ingredients must go into making your blog creation a success? You might not have thought about it, but there are some things that you must consider when creating a blog and in this article, we are going to discuss some things every blog has to have in order to become successful.

In blog creation, you want to build credibility with your readers. You have to let your readers know that you have the necessary qualifications to make the judgments and statements you do on the topic. You have to give them a reason to believe in what you are writing. This does not mean you have to go on and on about what gives you the qualifications, you just need to state somewhere why you feel you are the expert in your field.

You then need to invoke authority in the topic as well. Ok so you have established what qualifications you possess to give your opinions on the subject, but you need to invoke authority by writing about them in insightful and knowledgeable ways. Back up your opinions or statements with some references if at all possible.

In blog creation, you also want to make sure you have a high passion for the topic. Any person reading your blog posts will be able to tell if you do or do not carry passion. It is important to love what you have to say and say it with enthusiasm and intense passion. It will definitely shine through in your posts.

You will also want a blog that contains some personality. Reader definitely do not want to read anything that is dull or boring. You need to give them a reason to keep reading if you want your blog creation to become a success. It is important to remember that you are writing for humans and no robots, throw in some humor, we all love a good laugh.

Maintain your blog with regular posts. Visitors and readers look for reliability and consistency. If it might be awhile between posts, make a post saying so and tell them why. People are much more understanding when they know what is going on, then if you simply let the blog go for a month or two.

The last few things you need in order to make your blog creation successful are empathy, reality, and uniqueness. These three things together can literally make or break your blog. Empathy means touching your audience, interacting with them, making them feel like and understand that you have been right where they are in life, no matter what topic you are right about. You need to cater to the needs and interests of your readers in order for them to understand what you are saying.

Keep your blogs real, refrain from writing a fiction novel. People want real and up to date information. Lastly, do not provide your readers with the same information and ideas that they can find on any given website or blog on the internet. Make sure what you have to say is unique and professional.

Blogging Is Writing - Five Great Tips To Make Money Blogging

Got a blog? Great. Then you know that blogging involves writing, and the more writing you do, the more money you will make blogging. Let's look at five tips to help you to become an expert blogger.

1. The more you write, the more you earn

As a blogger, your primary task is content creation. This is because without content, you won't have traffic, and without traffic, you won't have an income. So content comes first.

However, there are many ways you can create content.

My favorite way is to speak, rather than write. I use a speech recognition program on both my Mac and my PC, to help me to create content more quickly. Although you'll need to train yourself to dictate your thoughts, the time you spend with the program in the first few weeks is amply repaid, because you've got more content on your blog or blogs, and thus more traffic.

2. Plan your blog posts each week and month

Planning your blogging is vital. I teach bloggers, and the first habit I encourage them to acquire is the habit of planning everything they do. Planning your content is vital, because some days you just don't feel like writing.

On these days, your plan gets you blogging, because you know exactly what you're writing about on any given day.

One of my favorite tactics is to create series. Once you've planned a series of posts on a particular topic, writing the series is easy.

A series can be anywhere from three to ten posts long. Here's an idea: create a "30 days" series - this gives you 30 blog posts to plan in advance. Once you've done the planning, you'll be amazed at how quickly you can write the series.

3. Create a network of blogs

One blog, or a network of blogs on the same topic?

Initially, focus on one blog, at least for the first year. Your first, primary blog will build traffic via the search engines, and this foundation of traffic is a real blessing - once you have hundreds of readers each day, you can USE that traffic.

After your first year, I advise that you hive off some of your blog's categories to make new blogs. This is because an enormous blog becomes unwieldy. Posts get buried, and it's hard to give previous posts the attention they deserve.

4. Where's the money? Set income goals for your blog

You must set income goals for your blog. Start small: a dollar a day. Then increase your income goals by ten times as soon as you reach a goal. So your first goal is a dollar a day, then ten dollars a day, then $100 a day, then $1000 a day, and so on.

5. Boost your traffic: the more readers, the higher your blog's income

Finally, as important as writing and content creation in general is, nothing beats marketing your blog. To get more traffic, you need to market your blog. So do it, every day - it's not optional, you MUST market your blog.

So, there you have five tips to help you to make money blogging - use them and prosper.

Blogging is little more than an electronic version of something many of you have most likely had and used earlier in your lives, and some of you may still be using to this very day. What is it? Read on to find out.

What The Heck Is A 'Blog' Anyway and Why Do I Care?
Plain and simple a blog, or weblog as some refer to it, is nothing more than an electronic journal or diary you use to enter your thoughts or ideas using web-based programs. But, a blog can be so much more than this. It can also be used to enhance your online business or personal site. It can be used to offer up tutorials or free content you may not want to include on your regular website. In fact, a blog can be a website in and of itself! Blogs are designed to be whatever it is you want them to be, giving you complete creative control over every aspect of your blog.

Using a blog can be very beneficial to you whether you have an online business or you simply need some sort of emotional expressive outlet to be you. And they are extremely easy to create, use, and profit from even if you have never made a blog in your life!

If It's So Easy, Why Has No One Used It Before Now?
Most likely it's because they just don't know about blogging. While blogging has been around for years it's popularity is just now beginning to grow, and at an alarming rate! There are millions of blogs that can be found all across the internet with millions more expected to be created before the end of 2004. Now is the time to use this simple form of publication to your advantage.

Another reason could be that because using and creating a blog is completely free, many online marketers tend to steer away from these types of tactics believing that free solutions have no value and in turn do not work. In most cases, this is true, but not when it comes to blogging.

One last reason to ponder is skepticism. Maybe it's hard to believe that something you have never heard of can be so simple to use and give you the freedom to write about what you choose and it can even make you money. Plus it's free too??!

Yeah Right!

But this is fact and not fiction. It is possible and easy and profitable and you have everything you need all in one kit.

Blogging: Not That There's Anything Wrong With It

Blogs (aka Weblogs) are essentially online journals or diaries which are configured for distributing information and ideas. It allows for easy and instantaneous publishing of content to a website whereby all entries can be place into category's making the search process nice and easy.

The simplicity of publishing, the degree of functionality, and the cohesion with other bloggers, establish blogs as just one phase of the modern evolution that is occurring within the online marketing and promotional ranks.

Blogging as frequently as possible lets you populate your archives with content while generating traffic organically from search engines. Search engines feed generously on the robust content from blogs. A search engine views a blog as being the perfect content based management solution. Interestingly enough numerous people have found stimulating ways to create cash flow with them.

Placing Google ads is a superior selection to earn some money while maintaining ads on your blog that are pertinent to the subject at hand. The setup goes like this: Google places an ad or link on the pages of the blog and if a visitor clicks on the ad, you receive compensation for set dollar amount for each advertisement.

Even though a few clicks won't make you an overnight millionaire, if you consistently provide top notch quality content on your blog you will continue to attract visitors that will read and click on your ads, creating some easy passive income.

There are a plenty of free blogging websites to select from and the majority offer simplistic templates that enable you to enter your insightful content and click on the submit button. The most thought provoking and time consuming aspect of this process is judging which category your blog will go under, and then furnishing captivating content each time you decide to post.

Just relax and brainstorm a few other strategies you can add to your blogs to make them more appealing. Even if you secure the most popular blogger status, you do not want to come across as a disingenuous person that would write anything just because you were crying out for the hits.

You may come across unbridled talent from blogging. Or you may find that you connect with people from your blogs and discover that the world is much larger and logically smaller than what you once perceived. Money can be generated through your blogging, but more often than not, you'll find it can just be an extraordinary passage and a mode to meet people that partake in your opinions.

Bloggers Tips

Write the Best Possible Content even if it is not every day Writing often is advice that most bloggers come across on other sites. The reason why it is popular advice is due to the fact that it is based on the assumption that posting often demonstrates that you are committed to what you do. This results in visitors and readers coming back to your blog to see and read about what you're up to. Posting too often may sometimes have the opposite effect. Visiting a blog for the second time, readers might be looking for the same post to re-read or something similar. Forcing your readers to go through a bunch of new posts, 1, 2 sometimes 3 a day might be a deterring factor. In these cases I will just use a search engine to find what I am looking for. Furthermore, the 2nd and 3rd posts of the day are usually of lesser quality due to writers fatigue and therefore less interesting. Instead of posting several times a day just post once a day or just whenever you think you have something interesting or useful to write about. Put some though in your posts, give your readers a reason to come back and always avoid bombarding them with clutter. Focus your effort on a few good topics.

Optimize your Blog for Search Engines Most bloggers out there start blogging the wrong way. After they start blogging they do so by relying primarily on social networks for traffic. Social network traffic is great but it rarely converts into money. The best traffic to make money is search engine traffic. A blogging tip everyone should get a chance to read and re-read is that search engine traffic will be the most profitable kind. Although Social networking is an easy way to generate traffic you should always spend some time to make sure your blog and posts are properly optimized to rank well in search engine result pages. Take a few hours a week and perform a few scheduled and simple search engine optimization tasks. Blogging SEO In your blog Make sure your titles are relevant to your topic, make sure you refer to your topic keywords throughout your posts, and make sure you tag your posts properly. Also make sure to interlink your posts with older relevant posts. Always use keywords you are interested in ranking high for and keep these keywords concentrated around a specific topic. From other sites Get as many one way inbound links with anchor text as you can; by many I mean thousands. Think of your site or your blog as a property you acquired in the country side. After you start building you will need to make a road, get it hooked up with power and so one. Backlinks are the essentials your blog or site will need to prosper. Don't only rely on other bloggers to link to you. Create backlinks to your blog by submitting articles in databases. Write a few 500 word articles on similar topics you write about in your blog, add back links with ancor text and start submitting. Ideally you should submit a few articles to thousands of directories for every post you write. There is software available to help you do this. Do the same thing for every post. You can easily create thousands of one way links your blog and particular posts in less than a few hours. Social bookmarking also works great for this purpose. Make sure you get your posts bookmarked at as many bookmarking sites as possible. Once a week or once every two weeks, use and see which posts of yours showed up in search engine result pages. Go back to them and optimize them. Add more keywords, make the title catchier, tag them better or even elaborate on certain things you wrote and think will help them rank better in searches.

Importance of Updating Your Blog

What is the importance of updating your blog often? Some might see no value in it; and might instead create multiple blogs, each of which they attend to for only minutes each week. Other blog owners see the importance of updating your blog often-and will spend 3-4 hours each day updating their blogs with news and ideas.

From both a technical marketing viewpoint and a social marketing viewpoint, updating your blog often is one of the best ways to maintain a constant stream of traffic.

From a technical viewpoint, new and unique content makes your blog look better to search engine spiders; this, in turn, gets your blog ranked higher. Additionally, from a technical viewpoint, updating your blog more frequently will allow you to get pings accepted more frequently, which means your blog will spend more time on the front page of blog directories.

The importance of updating your blog often also comes into play if you wish to integrate extensive social marketing into your overall blog marketing plan. Most people don't realize this, but marketing is often all about the human connections.

You don't need to be a technical wizard if you forget about profits for a few minutes and instead concentrate on making human connections with other blog owners who share similar interests. One of the best ways to achieve this is by keeping an updated blog, which will give other bloggers the incentive to drop by each day, post new comments on your blog, and refer their own blog readers to your blog. The importance of updating your blog often is crucial.

And there you have it: the importance of updating your blog often is paramount to success. Whether your goal is to use your blog for social marketing or technical marketing, you will have to update it often with unique and interesting content if you want to build an atmosphere that encourages return visits.

Blogging and the Synergistic Network

Did you know that there are businesses that will pay you to join them as a regular blogger? Why would they do this?

Well, they know that if they have a successful blog produced by someone knowledgeable on a specific subject they can receive AdSense income that exceeds what they pay you to produce it.

AdSense is an advertisement product available from Google. There is no cost to participate and certain subjects command a greater advertising residual. The payment Google makes is based on the total numbers of clicks on advertising links. That’s why blogging for profit companies are searching for those individuals uniquely qualified to write material that will bring in significant readers. The belief is that many of those readers will convert to ‘clickers’ and visit one or more of the AdSense links.

Okay, so if a profit based company understands the positive dynamics of blogging why can’t you tap into this market yourself? You can and that’s part of what this article is about.

You can develop your own Google AdSense account and learn the skills needed to place those ads in your blog automatically. What this does not mean is overnight wealth. What this does mean is a two-pronged approach to business objectives. First, you develop a blog with the purpose of providing quality information to your consumers. Secondly you keep posting a minimum of three well-developed blog posts to keep visitors coming back and to maximize AdSense revenue.

You can tell you are doing this right when both your primary business and your AdSense revenue are doing well.

It can become very easy to let a blog slide. You may not even believe it is all that effective in the marketing of your business. Consider the use of AdSense as an accountability tool to keep you locked into the synergy of blogging.

You may not notice every connection blog readers will make with your business, but it is planting seeds. AdSense revenue can help you see the success you are achieving in growing your blog readership.

When you use Real Simple Syndication (RSS) you can keep blog readers coming back more often. Keep your AdSense keywords targeted to the same objective as your blog and keep posting regular content with applicable links to affiliated content and your primary web presence.

Citrix Synergy defines synergy as, “The interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects.”

This is the dynamic that is captured in the sum total of marketing. Blogging is an interactive mechanism that adds a synergistic push to online success. It’s not the only push, but it’s noticeably pushy.

When you harness the multiple mechanisms that combine to create effective marketing you create a unique environment for success.

I want you to pay attention to what I have to say in this next sentence. Marketing isn’t simply a mechanism for success, it is the synergy of networking. We often think of marketing as getting the word out, but it draws on multiple connections and can respond in much the same way as every other networking tool at your disposal. Your marketing ideals will always need to be networked together. Blogging can be a key player in that networking strategy.

Blogging For Profit; The Simple Success Strategies Of A 19 Y

A blog is a simple but powerful tool which all marketers and businesses should be utilising to explode their sales, build credibility and improve customer retention.

I've been doing a lot of research with regards to blogging and came across a case of a 19 year old kid who was making something ridiculous like $50,000 a year with a blog on mobile phones, from his bedroom! This is an extraordinary case but clearly there is a good earning potential through blogs, however they do take time to grow and build up a readership.

Blogs provide a very simple, quick and easy means to add fresh content to your website. As I’m sure you’ve heard many times over ‘content is king’ from a search engines’ view point and by providing high quality, regularly updated content your website should benefit with regards to your search engine ranking.

By providing fresh, high quality relevant content you will gain an increase of both first time visitors and repeat visitors, they will come back to check out your new content. Providing it’s interesting, relevant and useful to them, you will begin to build relationships with your readers, increasing your credibility and building their trust in you and your business.

These repeat visitors will be exposed to your messages more and begin to trust you and your recommendations. This in turn will fuel sales and referrals. Just make sure you don’t recommend a product you haven’t tried, if it is bad you will lose all credibility.

Whenever you buy a new product, review it in your blog and be brutally honest, your readers will love you for it. Take a completely unbiased view point and talk about both the positives and negatives of each product. In essence you are providing more of an insight into the product than the sales page itself, this will help convert those prospects that are ‘sitting on the fence’ so to speak. As it has been shown that prospects are seven to ten times more likely to buy from a blog recommendation than from other sources!

There are many ways in which you can monetize your blog, for example, by using it as a tool to promote your own products or affiliate programs. Other ways that you can generate extra income through your blog are through the Google Adsense program, selling banner/link space as your traffic increases or by adding you own opt-in sign up form to which you send your newsletter or other targeted offers.

Your blog can be syndicated using RSS, enabling savvy webmasters to use your blog content on their web pages. This benefits them as they have regularly updated fresh content for their website and benefits you through increased exposure, free targeted traffic and extra inbound links.

To get the most benefit from my blog I use a technique called ‘blogging and pinging’, whereby every time I post to my blog, I ping Ping-o-matic.com to inform the search engines and blog directories I’ve updated my blog.

You should submit your blog feed to blog directories to gain more exposure. You can do this manually however, these are three automated sources that I have had the most success using and best of all…they are free!

http://pingomatic.com/
http://www.rssfeedpromoter.com/.
http://www.feedsubmitter.com/

Be passionate about your blog, love your blog. If you do not then it will become obvious through your posts and you are unlikely to be anywhere near as successful as you could be.

Add to your blog regularly provide good quality content and reviews and you will be on your way to blogging success.

7 Tips to Building Your Blog's Readership

Attracting traffic to a blog or a web site is challenging enough. So from the very beginning, when you start to see visitors coming to read your blog, be sure that they feel comfortable to stick around. And there are a number of ways you can help them to do just that.

Here are seven vital ingredients for building a successful blog with a loyal following.

1. Publish Regularly.

As your readers become familiar with the frequency of your posts, it will influence their visiting behavior. If your readers know that you post fresh content every day, they will probably come every day to read it. If they know you post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, that's when they will come.

2. Stay on Topic.

Stick to your niche. If your blog doesn't have a niche, give it one. Readers like blog's that are focused on a particular theme or topic. If you have no theme and just post about anything, then readers are less likely to become passionate about your blog and will probably move on to somewhere else.

3. Use Meaningful Titles in Posts.

This not only announces clearly what the post is about, but it will help people navigate your blog and also influence your ranking with search engines.

4. Interact With Your Readers.

Think of your blog like a conversation. You post. Readers comment. Be active and be positive as you interact and converse with your readers.

5. Highlight Your Best Posts.

Don't let your best posts get lost in your archives. It’s always a good idea to link to your best posts from a ‘best posts’ category on the main page.

6. Provide Good Navigation to Popular Pages

If you help people find the key pages within your blog, their visit will be a much more enjoyable experience.

7. Avoid Not Posting for Extended Periods.

If someone visits your blog and discovers that the last post was three weeks ago, they will probably be disappointed. If you don't post, people may give you the benefit of the doubt and come back on a few days to check, but you better believe they will lose interest quickly if you fall out of your regular schedule and stop posting.

There you have it. Seven little tips that will make a big difference to your blog's readership. It's not rocket science. It's just using some common sense when posting and interacting with your readers.

6 Easy Tips To Continually Improve Your Blog

While improving your blog may seem like a daunting task, I will show you 6 easy tips that will improve your blog in no time at all. These are just a few of many that can accomplish this task, but are ones that I use to improve my blogs and they will work over and over again.

1. Comment at related blogs - This is probably the biggest thing you can do to improve and promote your blog. It is very simple. Just make comments on other blogs that are related to yours. When you make a comment, it is standard to leave your name and URL. If you leave a relevant comment, maybe even with some free advice, other readers will visit your blog to see what you are all about.

2. Write a weekly "best of" post - It is fairly simple to do. Make a weekly post that spotlights the best posts that you have read on other peoples blogs. By linking directly to the post, you create trackback links on other blogs and this will result in new readers to your blog. This is sort of works like a backwards blog comment.

3. Be sure to link - A very important persona of your blog is the links that you provide. The more link outs you have the more your readers perceive it as more authoritative and valuable. It also shows that you are not trying to hide something and also show that you put credit where credit is due.

4. Improve your blog’s look - Why use the same templates and designs that many other blogs are using? Use a design that is totally different than everyone else and people will remember "that cool looking blog" that they had seen earlier and come back to it. If you can not find a unique template or don't know how to change your design, consider outsourcing to have it done.

5. Know your readers - Just because you have a blog, don't put yourself on a pedestal above everyone else. Get to know your visitors by responding to their comments, become friends with them and in return they will spread the word about you and your blog.

6. Create reader friendly content - Make sure that your content speaks to all of your potential audience. Make it entertaining and interesting for all to read. You want your content to be shared, if it reads like a tech manual, readers are going to give up on it let alone share it.

Remember that blogging is supposed to be fun, for you and your readers. I hope this will help you improve your blog and take it to the next level.

All about Blogs and Blogging

Blogging has become a part of day-to-day life. People have taken to share their views and opinions and post their comments online. A blog is an interface where people communicate with one another. It is a shared on-line journal or a diary. A blog is thrown open to the public who considers the same as their own web site and updates it regularly. The term blog stands for word ‘web log’.

According to some experts, a blog is a collection of posts, be it informal, short, deeply personal or controversial. It contains updated information on everyday basis.

Blogging Effectively:

People interested in blogging need to keep a check on their word usage. A controversial comment is likely to spark violence among the community. Below are some tips to ensure that the blog is free from any controversy.

1. Always think of the reader before writing. Follow the WIIFM principle that stands for ‘What's In It For Me?’ The written content has to arouse interest in the minds of readers.

2. It is good to proofread the content for any grammatical errors and typos. Blogging is all about publishing content. Hence, the writer has to make sure the content is error-free and appealing.

3. The content has to be valuable and worth reading. It is advisable for beginners to share articles of other people or review any book, before blog writing.

4. Follow the KISS theory, which means Keep It Short and Simple. Online readers do not have enough time to read the overall content, even if it sounds interesting. Hence, stick to the main idea behind blogging. Publication of short posts is good as compared to lengthy articles.

5. Make content live that serves the readers' areas of interest. This does not mean that the blogger has to be a born writer. Assume it a live conversation, wherein people have gathered to share their ideas over a certain topic. Stick to the five Ws- who, why, what, where and when.

6. Make others familiar regarding what is happening around the world. Post comments on routine lives of celebrities and famous personalities. This builds a rapport and attracts more people to the blog.

7. Put forward your ideas in a clear manner. Avoid jargon or double speak. Do not repeat ideas. The reader has to get a clear picture of what the writer is trying to convey. As such, have a straightforward approach in writing.

8. Blogging has to be with respect to people of all age groups. In addition, it is beneficial to include ideas that generate rapid interest among readers.

9. Headline of the content has to be clear and in a bold statement. Avoid misleading the readers. The writer may use specific key words. Frequent key word usage helps to stick to the purpose of the blog and appeals to search blogs. This increases the chances of ranking on the blog.

Conclusion:

Blogging helps people to know about the current topics, burning issues, and trends. Thus, individuals willing to voice their opinion on some issues or those who do not have time to go through the newspaper or TV news, and even common people can equally benefit from blogs.

Blogging for Dollars

Blogging for dollars might sound like the latest game show or some new drinking game, but it's the latest craze to hit the Internet. Bloggers began blogging for a number of reasons, but as the blog movement has increased in popularity, they have found ways to monetize their blogs and are seeing their commitment pay off.

Whether a blogger's focus is to communicate with customers or just to have fun, they have begun looking at ways to earn revenue from their blogs. The most popular ways for bloggers to earn some added cash for their pet projects are:

1. Google Adsense in Blogs

Google AdSense allows webmasters to dynamically serve content-relevant advertisements in blogs. If the visitor clicks one of the AdSense ads served to the blog, the website owner is credited for the referral. Webmasters need only to insert a Google-generated java script into the blog or blog template. Google's spider parses the AdServing blog and serves ads that relate to the blog's content. Google uses a combination of keyword matching and context analysis to determine what ads should be served.

2. Affiliate Programs (Product Endorsements)

Affiliate Programs work when an affiliate web site receives income for generating sales, leads, or traffic to a merchant website. Generally, bloggers will mention or endorse specific products and if site visitors purchase the product, bloggers will receive a portion of the sale.

3. Product Promotion

Businesses use blogs to detail how specific features or product add-ons can increase functionality and save time. Content-rich product promotion will help with search engine placement.

4. Banner Ads

While less popular than in the past, websites with high traffic levels can still earn decent revenue by selling banner space.

As the Internet evolves bloggers will continue to seek out ways to monetize their opinions and thoughts. Daily journals and online blogs have become more than just a communication means to many.

Top 10 Tips for Blogging

Tips for creating a blog.
There are no hard and fast rules on how to blog. Having said that, bloggers will likely increase their exposure by following some simple blog guidelines.

1. Stay on topic.

Opinions are generally accepted but the content of the items in the blog should all relate to a general theme. Unless you have an uncanny knack for wit, humor or cynicism, the majority of your readers will be interested in the content that relates to a specific defined theme or loosely defined area of interest. Most readers won't care that you eat Cheerios for breakfast. They may, however, be interested in the fact that vinegar takes out stains and that toilet paper rolls make great wreaths. Define a topic and stick to it. This will ensure that you create a loyal following of interested readers.

2. Stay informative.

If you are attempting to create the impression that you are knowledgeable about a specific industry or sector, be sure that you stay current on news. If you are endorsing a product or voicing an opinion, be sure to check your facts; your reputation is at stake. If you are offering an opinion, be sure to qualify your post, making it clear that the content is intended as an editorial.

3. Old news is not news.

While blogging every day can be a drain, it is important that the information presented is current and accurate, writing an article or blurb about something that happened 6 months ago, will not be of interest to many. Telling your audience that Martha Stewart was convicted and will be going to prison, after her sentence is completed will make people question the value of your columns.

4. Adhere to a schedule.

Create a schedule and stick to it. Realizing that blogging requires time and effort, don't create unrealistic expectations and be unable to deliver. An occasional lapse or holiday is generally understood but readers returning to find stale, out-dated content are going to find another blog with similar content. New blogs and RSS feeds are popping up on a daily basis. If you have worked hard to develop an audience and a community you don't want to lose them due to lack of communication.

5. Clarity and simplicity.

Keep your posts and blog entries clear and easy to understand. Remember, the web is global and expressions, idioms and acronyms don't always translate. Sometimes a little explanation goes a long way.

6. Keyword-rich.

If the goal of your blog is to increase your visibility, include related keywords in the title of the blog. Use the title as a headline to attract interest. Each item post should have a title that will attract attention but still be relevant to the post. The title should be no longer than 10-12 words.

7. Quantity matters.

In order to attract the attention of search engines, you will need to develop content and substance. A headline or simple sentence is not going to generate the interest of readers or help with search engine ranking. Be sure to archive old blog posts to develop a large portal of similarly-themed content.

8. Frequency.

If your blog content is updated frequently, search engines will tend to spider the pages at regular intervals.

9. Spell checking and proof-reading.

It only takes a few extra moments and can save you from having to make embarrassing explanations. Remember that whatever you publish on the Internet can be found and archived. Think carefully about what you post before doing so.

10. RSS.

RSS will increase your blog's reach. It is important that you include your blog's content in an RSS feed to increase readership and distribution.

Most weblog audiences are small, but with time and regular updates audiences grow. Bloggers may never have more than a few hundred readers, but the people who return to regularly are generally interested in what you have to say.
